When the Footage Speaks for Itself: How a Third-Generation Pest Control Company Built a Protected, Accountable Fleet
Blasingame Pest Management runs a growing fleet of service vehicles across Georgia. See how Linxup GPS tracking and dash cams give them the visibility and accountability they need.
Pest control runs deep in Dylan Blasingame's blood. His grandfather was Georgia's state entomologist starting around 1950, eventually inducted into the Pest Management Hall of Fame and recognized as one of the 80 most influential figures in the industry's history. Dylan's father launched Blasingame Pest Management in the early 1980s.
When Dylan graduated college and joined full time, the company was deliberately small. Today they're growing fast, with a team of technicians across six service vehicles and a trailer. As the business grew, so did the exposure. Dylan, now the company’s President, turned to Linxup to manage it.
The hit-and-run that was caught on camera
Last year, one of Dylan's technicians was involved in a hit-and-run. Another driver clipped the truck and sped off. The technician got the license plate and filed a claim, but the other driver's insurance company pushed back, claiming their driver wasn't even behind the wheel that day.
Then Dylan sent the video.
"While we were on the phone with them, they said, 'Well, yeah, it's hard to dispute that.' We won the case." Dylan Blasingame
In the end it was a minor scratch. But in highly litigious Georgia, a minor scratch without dash cam footage can quickly become an expensive dispute with another driver's insurance company.
"You hear horror stories of people seeking out service vehicles and trying to cause incidents. Having video evidence — I wouldn't say it completely bulletproofs you, but it gives you a huge leg up." Dylan Blasingame
Building a safety record that works for insurance
The hit-and-run resolved quickly because the footage was there. But Dylan is also thinking longer term about how the safety reporting works in his favor at renewal time.
"That is the main plan with this reporting — to present to our auto insurance. You know, this is what we're doing to kind of safeguard against and be more proactive and try to prevent circumstances before they arise. We're getting more in tune with the reporting first and getting it all lined up because we don't want to go to our insurance company and say, hey, we have this now, and then turn around and be like, right, what are you doing with it?" Dylan Blasingame
Behavior you can't fix if you can't see it
Before adding dash cams, Dylan had no real visibility into how technicians drove day to day. Phone use, following too close, missing seat belts all went undetected.
"We weren't very aware of it before, because we didn't have the ability to see it." Dylan Blasingame
The camera's AI-powered event detection changed that. When a technician reaches for their phone or fails to buckle up, the camera catches it, the driver gets an immediate alert, and Dylan gets the clip. The coaching conversations that followed early on started as reminders. But it didn’t take much for the message to sink in.
"That stuff has pretty much stopped since implementation." Dylan Blasingame
Dylan's approach has always been to frame the cameras as protection, not punishment. When the team rolled them out, the messaging was straightforward: if something happens on the road, this footage is your best witness. Not every owner gets that driver buy-in easily. A friend of Dylan's who runs a pest control company in northern Georgia had a different experience.
"He called me up and said it looked like World War III in that meeting when he rolled out the idea to put these cameras in — about had a mass exodus from it. I think it's how you approach it, but also if somebody's raising that much of a stink about something that's there to protect them, they probably have stuff they don't want you to see." Dylan Blasingame
There are lighter moments too. During a family camping trip, Dylan's dog jumped into the front seat and triggered a seat belt violation alert.
"Our dog hopped over in the center console to get my lap and got a seat belt violation from the camera. So that was a pretty hilarious clip." Dylan Blasingame
What a stolen trailer taught them
Dylan learned the hard way about asset tracking before he had it. A trailer was stolen, two heavy-duty locks cut right off it, and never recovered.
"After that we were like, yeah, we need trackers on our trailers. It's not going to prevent them from cutting the lock and taking it, but you can follow it and find your trailer. Some people just wait until something happens but for a relatively modest investment, you protect an expensive piece of equipment.” Dylan Blasingame
They added a solar-powered trailer asset tracker that took just five minutes to install. The only hiccup was a battery that had drained in the warehouse, but Dylan's Linxup rep walked him through a simple charge fix and it's been tracking great ever since.
Avoiding customer service disputes before they happen
In pest control, service happens on someone's property, usually when the customer isn't there. That creates a specific vulnerability: how do you show the work was actually done?
Linxup's GPS tracking and time-stamped location data give Dylan a way to answer that question directly.
"All of our service reports have time stamps and it's great for customers where it's outside only and they say, hey, we never saw them on the camera, or looked out the window and didn't see them walking around. You're able to pull the time stamp from the service ticket and pull up the GPS and tell them it lines up and they were there for this amount of time." Dylan Blasingame
That same visibility works internally too. Over the years, Dylan has caught technicians claiming to have serviced a location when the GPS showed the truck never turned down the street.
"We have caught a couple of technicians over the years claiming to have serviced a location and you can pull up the GPS and clearly see they never even stepped foot on the property. That's another level of protection we have to safeguard our reputation." Dylan Blasingame
Smarter dispatching through the PestPac integration
Through Linxup's integration with PestPac, the software Blasingame uses to manage their operation, Dylan's team can pull the closest technician to a new incoming order directly from the routing window.
"Linxup integrates with our software called PestPac. When you're in the routing window, we have the feature to click on the closest tech to a new order that's come through. That's just a minor detail that's been a nice little added bonus." Dylan Blasingame
Engine alerts that keep the fleet moving
Beyond GPS and cameras, engine alerts have become part of how Dylan manages the pest control fleet's health.
"We love the engine notifications that come through — that's really beneficial. We push those through to our mechanic to get those vehicles on a service schedule." Dylan Blasingame
A dashboard that's easier to use than what came before
Dylan has used telematics for years and Linxup isn't his first provider. The difference, he says, shows up most in day-to-day use.
"Going into the Linxup dashboard is a heck of a lot easier to find what you're looking for than what we experienced with previous companies. Previous companies had the information you needed but it was just not as easy to gather, especially pulling video. That seemed to be a huge pain point." Dylan Blasingame
He reviews driver report cards with the team during weekly meetings. The weekly rhythm keeps the team accountable and builds the documentation trail Dylan is deliberately assembling for insurance conversations ahead.
Support that doesn't create new problems
The few times Dylan has needed help, getting a real person on the line has never been an issue.
"It's always easy getting a hold of Linxup people. When you install a new system, you might have a hiccup or two. But nothing has been a pain to resolve." Dylan Blasingame
Growing the right way
Blasingame Pest Management is three generations in and growing faster than ever. Dylan is building the infrastructure to grow the right way with the documentation, accountability, and protection to back it up.
"Linxup is definitely the best choice, we wish we knew about y'all sooner." Dylan Blasingame
